The Black Heritage Committee of the US Attorney’s Office invites HLA to attend the 26th Annual Black History Month Program. The theme for this year’s program is “Black Women in American History and Culture.”

The speaker will be the Honorable Gabrielle Kirk McDonald, Justice on the International Claims Tribunal of the World Court at the Hague, Netherlands. She is a former US District Court Judge here in Houston from 1979 until 1988 when she resigned. Judge McDonald was the first African American female federal judge appointed in the State of Texas, and was the third African American female judge appointed in the country by President Jimmy Carter. Since 2001, she has served on the International Claims Tribunal for the US-Iran. Judge McDonald currently lives in New York.
